German goth metal band Flowing Tears puts fans right in the middle of a war. "Thy Kingdom Gone" (as opposed to "Thy Kingdom Come") jumps into the trenches of concept albums that have littered the music world lately. What's different here is that the band's follow up to "Razorbliss" is about war and the damage looking at the futility of war. While there are elements that echo other bands such as "London After Midnight" in the introductory song "Orchidfire" ***

Another song "For My Enemies," brings out the rivalry and the hatred we have towards our enemies no matter who or where they may be lurking, this song details that hatred gratefully. The guitars brought a heavy vibe capturing the lyrics beautifully as they float above the instruments playing in the backgroung, and sometimes throughout the cd the guitar melody and riffs rock over the vocals, growling and echoing sending a scaring chill running down your spine. ***

Concluding the album comes "The War We Left Behind," leaving all the tragic of deaths and battlefields we stepped foot upon behind. The guitars peacefully make their essence known as the vocals walk amongst the fields while drumming blasts against the music sending all the war spirits up into the sky to finally rest in peace. All in all Flowing Tears' "Thy Kingdom Gone," has a gothic metal drive that grinds itself deep into your bones filling everyone around to listen in and enjoy the joy and sound of their music.
