lready the 4th CD of the Dutch band SONGS OF THE EXILE, a 3-piece band consisting of a drummer, a bassist and a guitarist, whom all can sing. Musically the band is all about Pure Progressive Rock that is of course influenced by the Prog greats, such as RUSH, DREAM THEATER and QUEENSRYCHE. Actually they have sort of an own style, but still being a typical Progrockband. The band is always writing about TIME and they gave each song on their new CD a year as songtitle and closing track “1997” is the epic piece here as it goes way up to 12 minutes. The music is like I said before pure Progrock, with high-pitched vocals a bit reminding of TWELFTH NIGHT and especially GALAHAD, so actually very British orientated and a little less Progmetal orientated. Some of the songs are quite lengthy, but never the band goes into an instrumental overdose, so they keep it within a certain barrier and I think Progrockfans might like this band a lot, although you definitely have to appreciate high-pitched vocals of the RUSH kind!
