Scar Symmetry is a melodic progressive death metal act straight out of Sweden, with two previous CDs; "Symmetric In Design,"(2005) and "Pitch Black Progress," (2006) are some of their earlier works and have sold millions all over the globe. ***

Their latest effort brings "Holographic Universe," to the table with thunderous force. This release has gotten everyone's attention with such tracks as; "Timewave Zero," which displays some awesome guitar solos, fine drumming and great vocals. The band which consist of Jonas Kjellgren (rhythm/lead guitar), Herik Ohlsson (drums), Christian Alvestam (vocals), Kenneth Seil (bass) and Per Nilsson (rhythm/lead guitar), make up this five piece masterpiece. All the tracks and band members on this release are awesome in every way possible making this album as best as it can be, and it shows in the track "Ghost Prototype I (Measurement Of Thought)," this song is incredible. ***

Another track "Quantum Leaper," has an eerie feel to it, the vocals have a scary growling force built within as it gives us the vibe that sends chills down your spine. The last track titled "Ghost Prototype II (Deus Ex Machina)," has a slow mellow feel with a great guitar solo and its mellow vocals that float off in the atmosphere. ***

Scar Symmetry's "Holographic Universe," is a must have for your collection because it gives you the speed & drama you need and then slow your senses down before returning you back to reality. We shall see what unfolds with their next release, it just might be difficult to beat this winner in my book. Go Get It Now!
