The
Review |
Well the Paul Whitehead cover art gives you a clue as
to the band's inspiration: Genesis. Early Foxtrot/Selling
England era Genesis to be precise. If that is what you want
- you are in for a treat with this album. All instrumental,
this is a symphonic prog lover's dream. Minus the vocals -
this really sounds like a long lost Genesis album in between
Foxtrot and Selling England. ***
The album starts with a small piano introduction, and
then really kicks off with "Bicycle ride from earth to saturn",
a fantastic track that proceeds through many different moods.
Hackett-inspired guitar (including an electric sounds that
really duplicates Foxtrot-type tone) and extremely Tony Banks-inspired
keys take you on a great musical journey. It only gets better
after this - although there are 2 other short interludes on
the album, the remaining tracks all follow the same rough
format of early Genesis inspired prog. Not really any other
influences here - but I for one don't mind! All the usual
prog keys - mellotron, very nice moog taken straight from
Selling England, and some really tasty piano sections. Really
the only problem is that vocals really would have added something
and it feels a bit short due to the 3 interludes, which, when
subtracted from the total time, leave an album length of about
41 minutes. I was really impressed with this album - but it
seems that we may not hear more from the band as this is already
5 years old at this point. If you can find it - snatch it
up!
